Reading the Rain – How to Design a Stormwater Friendly Landscape
December 9, 2017 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm| Free
Join Daily Acts and local rainwater catchment expert, Sebastian Bertsch of Permaculture Artisans for ‘Reading the Rain – How to Design a Stormwater Friendly Landscape’, an interactive presentation and tour. We will learn all about easy DIY solutions for in-ground and above ground storage such as barrels, swales and rain gardens that can be used to slow, spread and sink rainwater, recharging the groundwater and preventing runoff.
Following the presentation, Sebastian will lead us on a neighborhood tour highlighting various examples of different rainwater harvesting techniques being practiced. We will then use our collective knowledge to observe the landscape, determine the path of the rain and identify opportunities and strategies for capture along the way. This tour will also include hands-on experience using homemade A-frames to measure contours that can then become in ground storage through swales.
If you have ever wondered what the best forms of rain catchment are for your site, then this is the event for you. We will be hosting rain or shine, though preferably in the rain and we hope to see you there!
