Once upon a time, there was a lawn.  Now,  -thanks to a lot of cardboard collecting, manure, straw, and family work days- there is a completely different backyard.  There are countless raised beds used for edible perennials, seasonal vegetables, insectary plants, medicinal herbs, etc.  A few bee hives also have a home in the backyard, along with a number of compost piles, and a few fruit trees.  During the hotter months, the garden is buzzing with life, color, and food.
