Souls' Solace

Moving up from a tiny garden in So.California to Sebastopol has been a real life change.  I will always feel fortunate to have found our piece of solitude.  We have fruit trees: apple, pear, apricot, peach, plum and citrus, in addition to strawberries, boysenberries, rasberries and grapes.  We grow numerous vegetables: tomatoes, peppers, onions, garlic, potatoes, artichokes, jeruselum artichokes, carrots, squash, chard, asparagus, corn, beans and peas.  We also have an herb garden.  In addition to enjoying fresh foods, I also manage to can, dehydrate or freeze some.  We do compost kitchen and garden scraps, which our rescued horses help with their manure.  We've recently added chickens to our food supply..and their droppings also go into the compost.  They are free range so keep the bad bugs in check.  I also delight in the rose and flower gardens...which intice the birds and butterflies.

I'm fortunate enough to have a greenhouse in which to start my plants from seed. This is my favorite place to be in winter.
