Help Out Here Vertical Veggies
Our garden is a vertical organic veggie and herb garden assembled from recycled and scrap materials, drip irrigation, 2'x6'x8' on an east-facing wall.
Help Out Here is a non-profit project to collect and disseminate information to help every person learn to grow their own food wherever they live in whatever space they have available. This garden project is to demonstrate that in a small amount of vertical space, minimal water and soil, that healthy organic vegetables can grow and be as bountiful and beautiful as those planted in horizontal beds.
The garden will include heirloom and organic salad greens, peppers, peas, small tomato vines, runner beans, pickling cucumbers, amaranth and quinoa, to name a few. This garden will also have edible flowers to attract pollinators and herbs such as rosemary, chives, sorrel, and cilantro.
As plants are harvested others will take their places so that the garden will last late into the fall and perhaps beyond.
