Green Acre

8 raised planter beds 4' x 8' filled with soil from Sonoma Compost.  In 2011 we're growing tomatoes (12 plants), green and yellow zucchini (1 each), bell peppers (5), butternut and spaghetti squashes (1 each), carrots, onions, lettuce, spinach, arugula, broccoli, radishes, basil, dill, parsley, cilantro, and green beans and have a variety of flowers sprinkled throughout the beds... nasturiums, calendula, chamomile, marigolds, and zinnias.  We also have a compost set up - 3 adjoining bins made out of salvaged pallets.  We compost food scraps, yard waste, and the straw and poop from our adjoining chicken run where we have 5 laying hens. We have a 7 foot fence around the whole thing to keep out the turkeys and deer.  Scattered around the rest of our 1 acre property are several walnut trees and peach trees, 2 apple trees, an apricot tree, and 2 plum trees.  We have herbs scattered about as well - rosemary and lavendar are two of our favorite landscape plants. We have a small wildflower meadow and minimal planting beds with mostly drought tolerant plants.
