The El Verano School garden is about 9600 square feet in area. Access pathways radiate from a central circular community garden forming a sunburst design. Areas between the pathways will receive curbs raised about 7.5 inches above grade. The garden will serve both students and our El Verano parent community. Parents volunteers will be enlisted to help with constructing and maintaining the ongoing garden project. Ideally, produce from the garden will be used by our students' families, and for our lunchtime student salad bar pending school district approval. The garden will serve as an outdoor classroom where students can learn where food comes from in a hands-on, inquiry based way.
