Badger Park Community Garden, Healdsburg

The Badger Park Community Garden was sanctioned by the Healdsburg City Council and built by Healdsburg Park and Recreation in 1980, making it one of the oldest in the county. The original garden began with only 20 plots "renting" for just $5.00 a year. Over the years it was relocated three times to make way for the creation of Badger Park. During that time the garden increased to 31 plots measuring 25' X 30' with a shaded common area in the center, and the yearly fee slowly increased to the 2010 rate of $75.00/yr. Today, a few of the original gardeners are part of the enthusiastic, year-round gardening community, while a waiting list grows for any plot vacancy.

The garden is located at 750 Heron Drive and is open by appointment only. Contact Mary Barclay, grdndsn@comcast.net or 707-480-3308. A new community garden will be built this spring located north of town at the Foss Creek Community Center. For more information contact Healdsburg Park and Recreation at 707-431-3301.
